THE PROJECT
Roads and communication routes have been, and still are, a strong element of identity for Maroggia. In the narrow passage between the lake and the mountains, all the main north-south connecting streets pass through: the cantonal road, the motorway, the railway. Roads, in the sense of routes and connecting roads, also include the waterways, the Mara River and the lake. Roads are the routes that run along the shores of the lake. Roads are the paths that climb the mountains.
The curatorship of the 2021 edition of the Maroggia Triennial Exhibition – an initiative organised by the municipality of Maroggia every three years, now in its third year – has been entrusted to the Artrust art gallery, which, starting from the suggestion of the road, has devised an artistic exhibition project in the area dedicated to Street Art.
A widespread exhibition involving local and international street artists, both famous and up-and-coming, to offer a broad overview of the expressive variety – in techniques, subjects, languages and artistic sensibilities – that can be found today under the big umbrella of urban art.
